Sundara Yarn Superwash Merino Fingering Yarn, Hand Dyed

Seven colourways of Sundara Yarn’s Sock base, hand-dyed in small lots by Sundara Bandreddi in Washington State. Each skein is one of a kind. Sundara’s dye-work has a painterly density — colours layered over each other rather than splashed on, so the skein reads as a complex single shade when knit up. The Sock base is the workhorse of her line: a smooth, plump 100% superwash merino that ages well in the wash and shows colour cleanly.

The seven colourways in this listing

• Earth Studies — dark navy fading to ink, with quiet green-grey breaks. Reads almost black across a stocking-stitch field; cabled stitches pull out the navy.
• Deadly Nightshade — bruised plum, half-toned with grey. Beautiful next to mustard or burnt orange.
• Zucchini Blossom — gold ochre with a touch of green underdye, the way late-summer squash blossoms catch the light.
• Toasted Orange over Pistachio — rust orange over a green base, dye-layered so you see both shades through one another. Sundara is best known for this kind of double-dye.
• Orchid over Buttercream — soft buttery cream with a faint mauve over-dye, the dye sitting only on the high points of the twist. Reads cream-to-lavender depending on light.
• Fire Studies #11 (2-skeins available) — deep oxblood and fire-red over a near-black base. Two matched skeins, intended together for a larger piece. Sundara’s “Studies” colourways are her annual limited series.
• Tickled Pink — clear coral pink with cream breaks, half-tonal and warm. Reads as a single flushed pink at distance.

Base. Sundara Sock — 100% superwash merino, 350 yards / 100 g per skein. 7–9 stitches per inch on US 0–2 (2–2.75 mm). Hand or machine-wash, delicate cycle, cool water.

Lovely for. Socks (one skein → one pair). Lightweight shawls and scarves (one skein each — they speak well solo). Texture-heavy hat-and-mitt sets in the more saturated colourways. Holding two complementary shades double for a marled stocking-stitch jumper-yoke.

Condition. All skeins new, with original Sundara hand-tags. Except Earth Studies whcih arrived without its tag.
