About the yarn:

Lace Silky Merino is Sundara's lace-weight blend — 30% mulberry silk and 70% merino, finely 2-plied to keep the silk gloss on the surface rather than letting it fluff. 1000 yards in a 100 g skein puts the strand between a heavy cobweb and a fine lace, the right yardage for a full Shetland-shape stole, an Estonian triangle, a generous half-pi, or a top-down circular shawl on a US 4. Held double with a fingering merino it makes a glowing fingering-weight base for a colourwork yoke. The silk gives a quiet sheen and a small weight that lets a finished shawl drape rather than crunch; the merino keeps it warm. *Water Studies #1116* reads as a quiet teal-into-seafoam variegated with deeper-blue dye pools — the slightly painterly wash that names the series. Blocks open beautifully on a 3.0–3.75 mm needle. Hand wash cold; lay flat to dry.

Sundara has run Water Studies for years specifically on the Lace Silky Merino base, because the silk-merino lace yardage lets a one-of-one dye pool carry a whole shawl from a single skein.
