A new, sealed-in-package set of KA Classic bamboo double-pointed needles in US 17 / 12.0 mm, 8" length. KA (Kinki Amibari, Japan) was for decades the bamboo needle of choice for knitters who wanted Japanese-grade smoothness, careful weight balance, and the warm, slightly grippy hand only well-cured bamboo gives you. The line is no longer produced, which has made unopened KA sets in the larger sizes increasingly difficult to find.

About the maker. KA bamboo needles were turned in Japan from carefully cured bamboo stock, then hand-finished to a glassy surface. They are noticeably lighter than birch or laminated-wood DPNs of the same diameter, which matters in the chunky sizes — a US 17 metal DPN is heavy enough to fight you on a long round; a KA bamboo US 17 just isn't.

US 17 is the workhorse chunky-blanket size: super-bulky cowls, arm-warmer-adjacent accessories, the crown of an oversized hat, weighted throw squares worked in the round. With the KA line discontinued, a new-in-package set of these is worth holding onto.
