1 skein of Autumn Hayride. When it's gone, it's gone.
A single skein of Black Bunny Fibers hand-painted fingering — 100% superwash merino, painted in rust, mustard yellow, soft cream, warm grey and brown running together across the skein like a hay-bale field in late October.
This yarn was made for the original Knitters for Obama campaign band — a 2008 fundraiser yarn that was never reissued.
Knitters for Obama '08 was a hand-dyed fundraiser yarn series produced through the Knitters for Obama group during the 2008 US presidential campaign. The skeins were small-batch, hand-painted in the USA on a 100% superwash merino sock base, and the colorways carried names lifted from the campaign's vocabulary — 'Audacity' a direct nod to The Audacity of Hope. The line ran only through 2008 and was never spun or dyed again. Original skeins with the hand-written colorway tag intact are now genuinely rare on the collector market.
Black Bunny Fibers is the long-running indie hand-dye studio of Carol Sulcoski — Philadelphia-based knitting author (Knit So Fine, Knitting Socks with Handpainted Yarn) and one of the steadier voices in the US handpainted-yarn world. Black Bunny has been dyeing small-batch superwash merino and merino-nylon bases out of her studio for well over a decade; bands carry the bunny silhouette and the studio's tagline 'Every skein unique!' rather than a colorway-name printed list, so colorway names live on the maker's invoice rather than the band.
100% superwash merino · Fingering weight · 400 yards per skein (1 skein — 400 yards total).
Colorway: Autumn Hayride.
Twice-owned · 30% under retail · small-batch hand-dyed, re-homed · 1 available, sold per skein. Curated and re-homed by Storybook Yarn — every skein verified by hand before listing.
Lovely for: A 100 g / approximately 400 yd skein is enough for one pair of long-cuff socks, a pair of long fingerless mitts plus a hat, or a small triangle shawl. The autumnal multi-color sits comfortably alongside any solid heather grey, charcoal or cream — pair it with a neutral fingering for a striped shawl if you want to stretch the yardage.
Care: Hand-wash cool, lay flat to dry. The dye is hand-painted, so soak in a no-rinse wool wash without agitation; bleed from the rust and mustard tones is normal on the first wash.
Condition: new with band. Hand-painted variegated colorway from Black Bunny Fibers — rust, mustard yellow, warm grey, soft cream and brown running together across the skein.
