The five strands in every bag are a deliberate mix — a ribbon, a bouclé, a sari-silk-style cut, something with a metallic shimmer, something deeply multi-tonal — so a single bag covers the texture range that would normally take half a dozen separate purchases to assemble.

We have seven bags in stock, and every bag is a different blend — we packed them by hand from the last of the Blue Heron studio’s textural cuts, so colour and fibre mix vary bag to bag within the same jewel-tone family. About Blue Heron Yarns. Blue Heron Yarns was founded on Maryland’s Eastern Shore in 1995 by Demian Savits and his mother Barbara Stone — three decades of small-batch, hand-painted yarn and art-yarn experiments for knitters, weavers, and mixed-media makers. The Easton, Maryland studio was best known for the painterly multi-tonal colourways and for the textural novelty yarns they produced alongside the workhorse sock and worsted bases — rayon ribbons, beaded strands, bouclé, metallic accents, sari-silk-style cuts. Blue Heron has now closed. These sampler bags came direct from the dyer as the studio wound down — not destash, not a secondary market — the last of their craft and art-yarn cuts, full stop.
