1 skein of Shade Indigo & Shetland White. When it's gone, it's gone.
A complete, sold-out Kate Davies Designs kit for First Footing (Ceilidh Oidhche Challain) — the two-colour Fair Isle sock named for the Scottish New Year tradition of being the first to cross a friend’s threshold. Everything is here and unused: the KDD cotton project bag, the full pattern booklet with cuff and colourwork charts in two sizes, and four balls of Jamieson & Smith Shetland Heritage — two of Shade Indigo and two of natural Shetland white. First Footing kits sold out far faster than expected and were never reissued; this is a chance to knit the design exactly as Kate Davies put it together.
This listing is for one complete Kate Davies First Footing sock kit — pattern, KDD project bag, and all four balls of Shetland Heritage.
About the yarn:
The kit is built on Jamieson & Smith Shetland Heritage — 100% real Shetland wool, spun to the historic 2/8nm count J&S revived for authentic Fair Isle work. Each ball is 25 g / 120 yd (110 m); the four balls together hold roughly 480 yards — the full two-shade quantity the pattern calls for. It knits the colourwork sock at a firm fingering gauge on about 2.5–3 mm / US 1.5–2.5 needles. A true woollen-spun Shetland: warm, light, and grippy enough that the stranded floats lock in beautifully. Hand-wash cool and lay flat to dry.

About Kate Davies First Footing Sock Kit:
Kate Davies is one of the most loved designers in the Shetland and Fair Isle tradition, known for impeccably researched colourwork and writing that sets each piece in its cultural place — First Footing draws on the Hogmanay custom of ceilidh oidhche challain. The yarn is Jamieson & Smith, the Shetland Wool Brokers in Lerwick who have bought and graded the island clip since 1932 and spun the Shetland Heritage line to match historic Fair Isle yarns. A complete, intact pairing of the two — designer kit and native wool — that you simply can’t buy new anymore.
