A garden-in-July skein of Blue Heron Yarns Wool Seed in Summer Meadow — the painterly green, fern, burgundy and oak-gold colourway on Blue Heron’s textured boucle/seed-stitch wool base. Wool Seed is the studio’s heavily-textured construction — densely looped strand that knits up with built-in slubs and pops of contrast as the colour painting drifts in and out of the loops. It works as bulky and reads with stitch interest even in a flat stockinette swatch.

About Blue Heron Yarns. Blue Heron Yarns was founded on Maryland’s Eastern Shore in 1995 by Demian Savits and his mother Barbara Stone — three decades of small-batch, hand-painted yarn for knitters, crocheters, and weavers. The studio worked out of Easton, Maryland, and built a quiet cult following on the painterly, multi-tonal colourways that pool and blend like watercolour rather than fight you on the needle. The shop has now closed. These skeins came out of the physical store on its way out — not destash, not a secondary market — the last of this base in this colourway, full stop.
